She felt his hands around her face - strong and protecting - and for a second she's confused. This was not exactly the time for cheesy vows. "Jace, what are you doing?"
"Isn't it obvious?", he asked while leaning his head closer to hers. "I'm trying to kiss you goodbye - just in case I don't come back."
Clary expected it to be one of her boyfriend's typical jokes and she was already preparing to see his typical smirk, full of sarcasm and mischievousness. She prepared to roll her eyes and "haha" at him. But when she looked up his mien was all serious. And suddenly she couldn't help worrying about him, about his duty, about his life. She just couldn't get the fear of losing him out of the back of her mind. Probably she'll never be able to let Jace doing his work without worrying - no matter how usual things like fighting demons had become. She'll always try to hold Jace off.
Her finger tips automatically search for his arm and his runes. "You don't have to go. You know that, don't you?" Clary wanted to sound calm and grown-up but her voice reminded more of a little girl's whispering. "You can stay here, let others be the hero and kiss me without a reason instead."CONGRATULATIONS
